Looking for the best way to experience the "real" Las Vegas this spring? LAS Discounts has the inside scoop on April's lineup at The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.
From deep dives into the visionaries who built our city to a milestone anniversary party in a hidden speakeasy, here is what’s happening in downtown Las Vegas this month.
The Underground’s 8th Anniversary Celebration
The Underground speakeasy and distillery is officially turning eight! To celebrate nearly a decade of Prohibition-era revelry and house-distilled moonshine, they are throwing a massive bash.
Date: Saturday, April 18
Time: 7 p.m. to midnight
The Secret: Use the password "Cheers to Eight!" at the side door for free entry.
The Vibe: Live jazz from Coco and the Sidecars inside the speakeasy and Mimi and the Rivieras under the stars at the open-air Starlight Plaza.
While you're there, don't miss the Limited-Time Anniversary Cocktails available from April 17 to April 20. Our top pick? The Golden Handshake, a bright blend of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, citrus, and a hint of floral sweetness.
Dive into Vegas History: The Big Gamble in the Desert
If you love the lore of the Strip, join veteran journalist Jack Sheehan on Tuesday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the museum’s historic courtroom.
Sheehan will share stories from 40 years of interviewing legends like Steve Wynn, Kirk Kerkorian, and William Bennett. He'll be joined by special guests Diana Bennett and Peter Thomas to discuss how their fathers transformed a dusty desert outpost into the megaresort capital of the world.
LAS Discounts Tip: This program is free for Museum Members or included with regular Museum admission. Be sure to RSVP online!
Catch a Flick (on the Wall)
While you are exploring the three floors of history, make sure to stop by the Oscar B. Goodman Room for the temporary exhibit: “Filmed in Las Vegas: America’s Playground on the Silver Screen.” You can browse vintage movie posters and lobby cards from the city's "Golden Age" (1941–1969), featuring classics like the original Ocean’s 11 and Elvis Presley’s Viva Las Vegas.
Live Entertainment Calendar
Every weekend, The Underground transforms into the city's most authentic 1920s-inspired nightlife spot. Here is the April schedule for live music (Friday/Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 7 p.m.):
April 3: Katrina Bree's Blue Note Trio
April 4: The Volsteads
April 7 (National Beer Day): Stop in for a pint of Big Al’s Ale, the house-brewed Irish Pale Ale!
