Go Big or Go Home: The Wildest Eating Challenges in Las Vegas

At LAS Discounts, we usually focus on saving you money, but today we are talking about how to earn it... or at least a free meal and a T-shirt. Las Vegas is the land of excess, and nowhere is that more apparent than in its legendary lineup of food challenges.

Whether you are a competitive eater or just have a very optimistic stomach, these challenges are a "high-stakes" way to experience the city's dining scene.

The New Heavyweight: "Fly, Cheesesteak, Fly" at SAHARA

Located inside Chickie’s & Pete’s at The SAHARA Las Vegas, this challenge is a tribute to Philadelphia’s most famous export.

  • The Challenge: Devour a two-foot-long Philly cheesesteak (3 lbs) and a mountain of their signature Crabfries (2 lbs) in 45 minutes or less.

  • The Stakes: Entry is $100.

  • The Reward: If you finish, you get your $100 back, a "victory" T-shirt, your name on the Wall of Fame, and—in true Vegas fashion—$100 in free slot play.

3 Other Legendary Vegas Challenges

If cheesesteaks aren't your speed, here are three other ways to test your limits:

  • The Octuple Bypass Burger (Heart Attack Grill): Located Downtown, this isn't a timed challenge, but it is a feat of endurance. It features 8 beef patties, 40 slices of bacon, and enough chili and cheese to clock in at nearly 20,000 calories. If you finish, you get a "nurse" to wheel you to your car. If you fail? You get a public spanking.

  • The 4.5lb Käsespätzle Challenge (Hofbräuhaus): This authentic German beer hall offers a massive bowl of egg noodles, Swiss cheese, and fried onions. It is notoriously difficult because of how dense the pasta is. Very few have ever conquered it to win the coveted beer stein.

  • The Double Down Pizza (Slice of Vegas): Inside Mandalay Bay, you can attempt to finish a 7-pound, 18-inch double-stacked pizza loaded with every meat and vegetable imaginable. If you finish it in one hour, the $70+ pizza is on the house.
