Welcome to the vibrant world of Las Vegas! Between the flashing lights and the constant energy, figuring out how to get from point A to point B can be a puzzle. At LAS Discounts, we want you to spend your money on the experiences, not the commute. Here is our insider’s guide to the best ways to navigate the city in 2026.
When to Take a Taxi: The Airport
While ride-sharing apps have taken over most cities, Las Vegas is a rare exception where the taxi is often your best bet at the airport.
Why It’s Better: Taxis at Harry Reid International (LAS) use fixed flat-rate zones for the Strip. This means you don't have to worry about a driver "long-hauling" you through the tunnel or getting stuck in traffic with a running meter.
Convenience Factor: The taxi line is located just steps outside of baggage claim. To get to Uber or Lyft, you have to lug your bags across the street, up elevators, and into a hot parking garage to wait for a driver who may still be ten minutes away.
The Price Perk: During peak times or "surge" periods, Uber and Lyft prices can skyrocket to $40 or $50. A taxi to the South Strip is a consistent $21–$22, Center Strip is roughly $26, and North Strip stays around $30.
Insider Tip: Always double-check which "Zone" your hotel falls into before you leave the curb. Also, keep in mind there is a small $3 fee for using a credit card in a cab, so carrying a little cash can save you even more.
When to Take the Vegas LOOP: The Futuristic Short-Cut
The Vegas LOOP (the underground Tesla tunnels by The Boring Company) is the newest way to zip around, and it’s expanding fast.
When to Use It: Currently, the LOOP is the absolute best way to travel between the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), Resorts World, Westgate, and Encore/Wynn.
The Experience: Instead of a traditional train, you hop into a Tesla and a driver whisks you through a neon-lit tunnel. It turns a 25-minute walk across the massive convention campus into a 2-minute ride.
When to Use Uber or Lyft: Beyond the Airport
Once you’ve checked into your hotel, ride-sharing becomes your primary tool.
When to Use It: Use Uber or Lyft for trips to Downtown/Fremont Street, off-Strip dining (like Chinatown), or traveling between two hotels that aren't neighbors.
Insider Tip: Hotels have very specific "Ride Share" pickup locations. They are rarely at the front valet. Look for the signs... they are often tucked away in parking garages or side entrances.
When to Monorail, Bus, or Walk
The Monorail: Best for traveling the East side of the Strip (behind Flamingo, Harrah's, and MGM Grand). It’s great for avoiding Strip traffic entirely, but it can be a long walk from the monorail station through the casino to reach the actual sidewalk of the Strip.
The Bus (The Deuce): The $6–$8 pass is the most budget-friendly way to see the whole Strip. It’s a double-decker, so try to snag a seat on the top floor for a cheap "sightseeing tour." Just be prepared for it to be slow!
Walking: The Strip is much bigger than it looks. Walking is great for exploring "clusters" (like walking between The Linq, Flamingo, and Caesars), but don't try to walk from Mandalay Bay to Wynn unless you’ve brought your best sneakers and plenty of water!
