Downtown vs Strip, Where Your Dollar Goes Further in November

Same weekend, two very different bills. That is the honest summary of a Downtown versus Strip trip in November, and it is the comparison budget travelers should make before they book anything — because the room rate is only the first line of the bill.
Here is the head-to-head, category by category, with the one piece of fee math that decides a lot of trips on its own.
The Room (And the Fee Hiding Behind It)
Strip resort fees run $45 to $55 a night before tax in 2026, and the 13.38% Clark County lodging tax applies to the fee too — so a $55 fee is really about $62 a night. On a three-night stay, that is $135 to $165 in fees alone, before you have eaten or gambled anything.
Downtown changes that math completely. Four Queens and Binion's charge $0 in resort fees as a standing policy, verified in an October 2026 check of 42 hotels — and on the Strip itself, Casino Royale is the only property with a $0 fee. If your trip is three nights, choosing a $0-fee hotel over a $55-fee Strip resort saves roughly $165 before tax, which is a whole day of food and fun.
The catch: Downtown rooms are simpler and smaller than Strip resorts. If the resort itself is the vacation — the pool scene, the spa, the spectacle — the Strip earns its premium. If the room is where you sleep, Downtown banks the difference.
Food
Downtown eats cheaper across the board: classic diners, Fremont Street food halls, and casino cafés where a full meal costs what a Strip appetizer does. The Strip has the celebrity rooms and the buffets, and you pay for the room as much as the food. Budget move: eat Downtown, splurge once on the Strip, and never pay Strip prices three meals a day.
Gambling
Table minimums run lower Downtown, which means a gambling budget lasts longer — more
hands, more spins, same bankroll. The Strip's minimums climb on weekend nights, and a budget player can burn through a night's bankroll in an hour at a $25 table that would have been $5 or $10 Downtown.
The Free Stuff
Fremont Street Experience: The light show, the street performers, and the people-watching are free, every night. It is the best free show in town and it is Downtown.
The Strip's freebies: The Bellagio fountains, the Conservatory, and window-shopping the big resorts cost nothing too — and they are worth a Strip evening even if you sleep Downtown.
The Verdict
Sleep Downtown, play both. Take the bus or a rideshare to the Strip for one big night, then
come home to a room with no resort fee and a Fremont Street nightcap. In November, when the weather is mild and the crowds thin between Halloween and the holidays, that split is the best-value weekend in Vegas.
