Veterans Day Parade 2026: Downtown's Free Morning Worth Planning Around
If you're in Las Vegas on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, the best free event of the day starts at 10 in the morning downtown — and it is not a show, a casino promo, or a timeshare pitch. It is the Veterans Day Parade, billed as the largest Veterans Day parade west of the Mississippi, running since 1994.
Here's what to know before you go, including the part most visitors get wrong: the road
closures.
The Basics
When: Wednesday, November 11, 2026, 10:00am to noon.
Where: Downtown along Fourth Street, from Garces Avenue to Stewart Avenue.
Cost: Free to watch. Bring a folding chair — they're allowed along the route.
What you'll see: Veterans groups, marching bands, floats, and community organizations. A flyover has opened the parade in past years, but that's tradition, not a guarantee for 2026 — don't promise it to the kids.
The Part Visitors Get Wrong: The Roads
Road closures around the route start early — roughly 5 to 6am — and streets don't fully reopen until about 2 to 3pm. Don't plan to drive through downtown in the middle of the day, and don't book a tight afternoon connection that depends on a downtown street being open. Arrive early, park once, and stay for lunch downtown after the parade passes.
Getting There
The Bonneville Transit Center sits about a quarter mile from the route, which makes the bus an easy option. One thing to check before you count on it: RTC offered free transit to veterans and active military on Veterans Day last year. That's past practice, not a confirmed 2026 offer — verify it for this year before you plan around it.
Pair It With the Freebies
The parade is the event; the freebies are the rest of the day. This site's Veterans Day freebies
roundup covers the restaurant and attraction offers for veterans and active military in 2026 — read it alongside this post and you can build a whole free day downtown around the parade.
